Horton Featured in Two Magazine Articles
(11/02/2007 )
Pennington partner, J. Wiley Horton, along with co-inventors Kim Berton and Brian Boothe, have been featured in articles in the November 2007 issues of Florida Trend and the Tallahassee Magazine. As co-inventors, the three have invented a way to deliver emergency insulin without having to spend precious time mixing glucagon powder in a diluting solution and then drawing it into a syringe before injecting it. The invention, called SimpleShot, mixes the drug in a chambered syringe and then injects it. The trio entered the device in the 2007 Modern Marvels Invent Now Challenge, sponsored by The History Channel and the National Inventors Hall of Fame. In March of 2007, the SimpleShot was awarded first place by a panel of judges that included Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, and David Pogue, technology editor of The New York Times. The SimpleShot device is explained in more detail on the webpage: http://corsair-eda.com/_wsn/page3.html.
