Pennington Law Firm Shareholder Elected to ABOTA

Tallahassee -- Pennington, Moore, Wilkinson, Bell & Dunbar, P.A. shareholder, Michael J. Thomas, has been elected to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and the Tallahassee Chapter of ABOTA. ABOTA is a national organization with chapters throughout the United States.
Its primary purpose is to preserve the right to a civil jury trial. Members of ABOTA are experienced jury trial advocates who represent plaintiffs and defendants. To qualify for ABOTA membership, an attorney must have not only be an expert civil trial attorney but also have a reputation for civility and integrity. Mr. Thomas' practice focuses on insurance defense litigation, including medical malpractice defense, product liability, premises liability, general civil litigation, and employment law.
Mr. Thomas is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by The Florida Bar, which distinguishes him as a specialist and expert in his practice area. He has been named by his peers as one of the top lawyers in the state in the annual (2005) Legal Elite Survey by Florida Trend magazine. During law school, Mr. Thomas served as President of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. He is admitted to practice in all Florida and Georgia state courts, the U.S. District Court Northern District of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the Middle District of Georgia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Thomas received his Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Florida State University and his Juris Doctorate from the University Of Mississippi. Mr. Thomas is a member of the American Bar Association, The Florida Bar, Tallahassee Bar Association, State Bar of Georgia, Defense Research Institute and Florida Defense Lawyers Association. Mr. Thomas has been awarded an AV rating by the Martindale Hubbell Law Directory.
